About

Everything started
with a notebook.

My journey into design began unexpectedly. After 19 years of being a stay-at-home mom, I became a caregiver by chance for a patient with dementia. The first day that I arrived at her house, I saw a messy notebook on the counter. The information was inconsistent, difficult to follow, and scattered across multiple pages. Having a background in MIS, that notebook immediately caught my attention. My solution was simple: I created a spreadsheet not only for her medications, but also for her daily routine, exercises, and caregiver observations.

This was my turning point. It started my journey of rediscovering my professional path. This is when I decided it was time to return to work. But after two decades, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. I needed to update my skills.

After exploring different career paths, I discovered UX Design, and I realized it provided a bridge between my interest in people and my background in systems.

While completing my UX/UI Design program, something else happened.

As I began working through case studies, my mind went from zero to 100. Concepts I had studied at university 20 years earlier started coming back. What I thought I had forgotten wasn’t gone; it had just been sitting in a different part of my brain.

And as I looked across my projects, I noticed that every project followed a similar pattern. I naturally mapped the relationships between users, service providers, information, processes, and the organizations supporting them. That’s when I realized I wasn’t starting over. I was building on something that had been there all along.

I’ve come to think that the center of a system isn’t technology. It’s information.

Today, my work sits at the intersection of Product Design and Service Design, grounded in the systems thinking that first drew me to MIS. I enjoy understanding how people, products, processes, and information work together, identifying where things break down, and designing solutions that improve both the experience on the screen and the system around it.

What motivates me most is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact. Whether the challenge involves healthcare, telecommunications, local communities, or another industry entirely, I’m drawn to problems that affect people’s daily lives.

My goal isn’t simply to design products or services. It’s to understand the larger problem, connect the pieces, and create solutions that reduce frustration, improve experiences, and make life a little easier for the people who rely on them.

About My Portfolio

I built this portfolio myself, but I didn’t build it alone. I used AI throughout the process as a working partner to challenge my thinking, refine my writing, explore visual ideas, and help turn my designs into code. The research, concepts, systems, workflows, design decisions, and final direction are mine; AI helped me move from idea to execution faster.
